We are proud to announce the arrival of Logan and Tyson on March 3, 2010!! What a wonderful week and a half it has been having TWO babies. I am not really sure where to begin… so this may drag on:)
C-Section
I went in to the hospital at 4:30 am for a scheduled c-section on March 3. Now why in the world the hospitals schedule things at the butt-crack of dawn, I do not know. This was my first c-section so I had been very nervous for the upcoming moment and I am EXTREMELLY grateful for those who helped me through this (I’ll get more to them in my grateful section). Everything went very smooth. When Stoney came in to the OR room he sat down on the stool next to me, you could tell he was slightly nervous. He had already determined he was not going to watch anything. I was doing great- thanks to a little thing called modern medicine:) Logan was born at 6:46 am weighing 5 lbs 12 oz and Tyson came in at 6:49 at 6 lbs 9 oz ( same as Jackson). Logan had a few problems breathing and was taken to the nursery where Tyson and Stoney soon followed. Within 40 minutes they were well and I was back in our hospital room waiting for them.
Names
For those who don’t know we kinda have a funky thing with all of our names having 19 letters. Ya silly I know, but it wasn’t until we had Jackson Lee Beckstead (19) that we realized Ethan Stone Beckstead (19), Stoney’s and my name all had the 19 letters. So that was road block A when choosing names. The boys’ middle names all have a significant meaning. Ethan Stone- Stoney. Jackson Lee- Lee is Stoney’s dad’s middle name, and my grandfather’s middle name. Tyson Miles- Miles was my grandfather’s name. And Logan Mikel- Michael is my dad’s name, but with the 19 letter situation we chose to spell it slightly different.
Blood-transfusion
The second day in the hospital I had my blood drawn to check blood count levels. Mine came back 22. Normally your level will range in the 40′s. I was running low. For anyone who saw me the first two days I was white as a ghost, could not keep anything down and would pass out anytime I would stand up. It was miserable. So a blood transfusion was ordered. It was nerve racking thinking I am getting SEVERAL peoples’ blood. After 1 and a half liters later I had so much energy and felt like I could take care of my family. I have donated blood before but it does give me a whole new appreciation and perspective on blood donations- SO GET OUT THERE AND DONATE!!!
Grateful
I am grateful to so many you have helped us these last several months. I and my family could not have done it without you!!
Thank you to all the wonderful friends in our ward. They have taken two weeks every other night to feed us-HUGE help. Offers to do my laundry have been given out, many have taken time to calm my fear of the c-section, several have taken Ethan and Jackson to play and be outside. Ang had gone above and beyond in making sure we have survived everday- THANK YOU! Our family really stepped up as well thank you Jim and Crystal. ANd a huge thanks to my mom for staying with us for SIX days. We would not have survived, and Ethan and Jackson would have fed themselves, bathed themselves, they would have run the house down. Thank you mom. If she could just take the next six months off work and come live with us- I trully would not mind.
I am grateful Logan and Tyson are healthy. I have heard so many stories where something goes wrong with having multiples, but we never had ANY issues. I am grateful they came at 38 weeks- yes I complained a lot but they were able to come home wiht us and never spent anytime in the NICU. Our Father in Heaven has been so good to our family. So I ask why us? What have we done to be so blessed? We are just an average family, nothing special. I hope we can continue to please Him. We have a solemn responsibility to love one another and raise our children appropriately. I am truly blessed!
Thank you EVERYONE for your prayers, thoughts and continued support as we trudge along with 4 active, loving BOYS!!
TWO BOYS!!! THAT IS RIGHT, STONEY AND I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO PRODUCE ANY GIRLS. AND IN OUR AREA SOMEONE HAS GOT TO GIVE THIS WORLD SOME BOYS:) WE ARE EXCITED. WHEN EXPLAINING TO ETHAN HE WILL HAVE 3 BROTHERS HE SAID ‘MOM, THT WILL BE SO FUN” I AM GLAD HE HAS A GOOD ATTITUDE. SO OUR NEXT BATTLE IS NAMES. WE STRUGGLED WITH EHTAN AND JACKSON SO COMING UP WITH 2 MORE IS A BIT COMPLICATED. DO WE WANT THEM TO SOUND SIMILAR, BEGIN WITH THE SAME LETTER, OR DO WE WANT THEM COMPLETELY DIFFERENT? THOSE ARE QUESTIONS WE ARE TACKLING.
I LEARNED AT THE ULTRASOUND, I WILL HAVE TO GO IN EVERY 4 WEEKS FOR MORE ULTRASOUNDS. AND STARTING AT 32 WEEKS I HAVE TO HAVE A STRESS TEST DONE EVERY WEEK. I THINK I WILL BE GOOD FRIENDS WITH THE STAFF AT UVMC IN FRATERNAL FETAL MEDICINE.
Baby J (not so much baby anymore) turned 2 on the 14 of October. We had a nice family gathering to celebrate, which hasn’t happened in quite some time. Jackson is my calm, little guy. He really enjoys reading, playing with cars or transformers, wrestling with his brother and snugglying with mom. He has become much louder recently, but I dont blame him. He loves to “see the babies”. Almost daily he will ask to look in my belly button, rub my belly and give kisses. So sweet. Jackson is pretty good at entertaining himself. When he doen;t want to do something Ethan wants him to do, he will let you know. We love Jackson are so grateful for the love that he brings to our family. Happy (late) Birthday Jackson!
Wow. I knew it has been a while since I posted, I just didn’t realize almost TWO months. We have had our share of sickness lately, it seems to just draaaag on. The pregnancy is coming along. We actually find out this week what we are having, I think it will make it “more real”. I am just excited to see two in the ultrasound. for this post I am just going to include pictures of what we have done. Enjoy.
