A few weeks ago Stoney and my dad were talking about random things. At one point my dad remembered a story about himself. It took place while he was serving in the Army (during the Vietnam War) and was in Dublin, Ireland. Stoney asked if I had ever heard of it before, and I hadn’t. I was kinda jealous that Stoney had heard it directly form him and I got the run down version.
That is when I realized, mine and Stoney’s parents are getting older. And there is a lot that we don’t know about them. Both of our dads served our country, Stoney’s dad guarded the embassy (Stoney, doesn’t remember which one), and mine was in Europe for quite some time. You know they have got some good stories to tell. I know my dad has told me about a few events when I was younger, but UNFORTUNEATLEY, I didn’t listen. So I have decided now is the time!!!!
I asked my dad to write down things as they came to him, that was not and will not happen-the older they get the more stubborn they become. I then decided that every time I see him I will ask him about his childhood/young adulthood. And write down what he tells me. I only have two stories, but it is growing and THAT is what matters.
